5A Bocote (Mexican Rosewood) Book-matched Set
Well these are very special to say the least! Its very rare to find Bocote in sizes large enough for bookmatched instrument tops. In fact the billet that I cut these beautiful sets from is the only one large enough that i have ever come across!
These Bocote book-matched sets are from a billet that had been cut over a decade ago, and has been air drying for many years in a controlled environment. The sets are now perfectly seasoned, and ready to be used.
Bocote in its natural, dry state can look very dull (see last picture in photos) this is entirely normal with Bocote. When it is sanded and an oil or lacquer applied then the grain and colour really comes to life – as seen in the other pictures!
These are about as rare as it gets due to the size of these sets. Bocote is fairly easily available, but never in these dimensions.
