What can I say about this set? I have cut thousands of bookmatched sets since I started my career, and out of all of them these Spalted Flame Black Ash sets are potentially my all time favourite sets.
Figured Ash of any kind is fairly rare. Burls tend to be small and prone to splitting during drying, ripple figure is regularly too feint to get excited about. Spalted Ash more often then not is too soft for use. These sets however are the holy grail in my mind. Great compression curl figuring throughout which is very distinct, with dramatic spalting running through. The spalting has amazing colour and is thankfully fully solid. These sets are utterly beautiful and will create some stunning instruments. Once these have been sanded and lacquered up they will be utterly jaw dropping.
