Asian Cedar Bookmatched Top Set 002
Lightly rippled electric guitar & bass top set, or acoustic back set (matching acoustic sides available upon request)
This set is 6.7mm thick. Other dimensions can be seen in the images. Sets pictured both natural and sprayed with Naphtha to show true colour and grain patterns.
Asian Cedar (Toona Sureni) is an incredible tone wood, rarely available for guitar and instrument makers.
It’s a very interesting wood too – although it is named as a Cedar, its actual in the Mahogany family. Just like many woods, it goes by many other names, including: Suren Toon, Iron redwood, Red Cedar, Indonesian mahogany or Vietnamese mahogany.
It has a very reflective grain and figure, taking a very high shine from sanding alone and looks similar to Koa in this sense, with very warm colouration. Its also very very light in weight! Even more so than Swamp Ash, and has a beautiful tap tone.
These bookmatched tops have been cut for electric guitars and basses, however they would also make fantastic back for acoustic guitars. We have bookmatched side sets available in the same material so if you require an Acoustic back and sides set just let us know and we can supply these for you.
