Spalted Elm Burl Bookmatched Set 123
Incredibly rare spalted set. Getting spalted Elm is quite a rare thing, instead of spalting it generally just goes to soft rot, and the very few properly spalted pieces I have dealt with in the past have all been too soft to work with. These 3 spalted sets are the only 3 I have ever cut that are solid and entirely useable! Amazing colours, pattern and even a small wisp of compression quilt too.
7.9mm thick. Please see images for other dimensions. Pictured both natural and sprayed with Naphtha to show true colour and figure.
These English Elm Burl – flowing grain patterns, rich colours and solid burl clusters – beautiful and rare! These will look fantastic when oiled or lacquered, creating tonally and aesthetically amazing instruments.
The slabs that yielded these Elm Burl bookmatched sets came from Scotland, and were personally selected for their exceptional quality.
These Elm Burl tops will be perfect for use as tops for electric guitars and basses, and will create some truly astonishing looking instruments. As with all burl sets, these may include bark incursions and open voids which can require filling during use. Please view images carefully.
