Stewmac Guitar Buffing Machine Lightly Used
Available to mainland UK customer only, or customer collection is available.
Available for sale is our modified Stewmac Guitar polishing Arbour. This has had very little use (I polished perhaps 3 or 4 guitars with it in total) but due to the ever expanding stock here at luthier wood, I need to make some extra floorspace for new stock.
This is a professional grade polishing arbour, specifically designed for the buffing of guitars and other stringed instruments. I imported this from Stewmac in the USA a couple of years back, and hired an engineer to calculate and fit the correct sized pulley to bring it the RPM up to the correct speed when running on the UKs power. (Stewmac offer a US and European version of this machine. This is the European model, however Stewmac assume the whole of Europe, UK included, runs at 60hz. This is true for most of the continent but UK runs at 50hz as standard. So when running out of the box the RPM is too slow to polish lacquer – it measured at roughly 560RPM. With the larger pulley installed to the motor the RPM was brought up to the correct 715RPM, perfect for polishing lacquers. Any slower than this and the lacquer just scratches, much faster than this and the lacquer burns through).
The machine comes with the full kit (Machine, 4x wheel plates, 4x wheel nuts, 1x mop rake, 1x baseplate, 3x Colourtone solid polishing compounds med/fine/extra fine). The machine also comes with 4x additional mops (6 total, 2 for each grade of compound) a Menzerna extra fine metal polishing compound and an additional motor! The total value of this pack including shipping and import fees from the USA is over £1600, so this is a great deal for any budding or professional Luthier.
Collection available from our store in Tideswell, Derbyshire or can be shipped via Pallet delivery within the UK mainland.
