English Sycamore- one of the most underrated tone woods on planet earth, in my humble opinion.
Beautiful pale colour lends itself perfectly for staining, easy to work with and offering fantastic resonance and sustain. Sycamore isn’t used by the ‘big’ guitar companies, and so often gets over looked by Luthiers. But give it a go and you’ll be nicely surprised at just how fantastic the finished instrument sounds (if made correctly, of course!).
Sycamore is a species of Maple, yet is lighter in weight than the ‘common’ Maples used in guitar and bass building. It is lighter than Ash, any tends to yield instruments of a similar weight to those with Mahogany bodies.
