Thuya Burl Bookmatched Guitar / Bass Top Set. The worlds finest woods for Luthiers, from Luthierwood.

Thuya Burl s one of those incredible woods that tick all the boxes. Beautiful, easy to work with and smells absolutely amazing!
Thuya almost entirely grows in Morocco, and is prized for its beauty and aromatic Cedar like smell. As seen in the images, the burls are very tight with dark ‘eyes’, which unlike many other burls don’t have a tendency to split and open.
All sets are photographed both dry and sprayed with Naphtha to show true colour and figuring (to give a hint at how stunning the set will look once sanded and oiled or lacquered). Dimensions in the images, see set pictured against measurement board.

All these sets are dry and ready to work with. Still, it is always recommended that the wood is allow to acclimatise to the new environment before being worked on, particularly if you have purchased from over seas. It is recommended to stack the set ‘On Stick’ and weighted from above to ensure full air circulation, giving the set time to properly acclimatise. If not being used right away then it is important to stack the wood properly, ‘On Stick’. Failure to do this could result in the wood cupping / bowing and becoming unusable.
